Power Generation

Sustainable, renewable biomass derivatives

Plant or vegetable oils are an increasingly important source of sustainable, renewable raw material and feedstock for the world's food, oleo chemical and bio-fuel industries. Plant oils are most often derived from the seeds of the plant, commonly called 'oil seeds.'

Two of the most promising types of plant oils are produced from one prolific plant, the oil palm, common throughout the jungles of Malaysia, Indonesia and other remote, tropical regions. Palm oil, used mostly in food products, is derived from the flesh of the palm fruit, and palm kernel oil, used by the oleo chemical industry, comes from the seed or kernel of the fruit. Elliott steam turbines and turbine-generator sets are an essential part of the process, providing power for producers at remote oil palm plantations.
